Welcome to the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work.

The Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work admission requirements are aligned with Saint Augustine's College admission requirements.

The goal of the Saint Augustine's College is to offer Social Work as an approved major in fall 2009. All students admitted during the 2009-2010 Academic Year will be eligible to graduate from a fully accredited Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Social Work program in 2013.


Mission Statement

The goals of the Department will focus on the following aspects-an experimental, scientific aspect, a social, and an organizational and practical aspect. The overall mission of the Department is to stimulate and nurture the intellectual growth of students as they prepare for careers as professionals and/or pursue higher education.

The Department seeks to engage students in experiences that will broaden their skills in critical thinking, that groom professional careers, and that instill in them a life-long commitment to professional and personal growth.


The Department will:

Field Work

Students majoring in both Psychology (Clinical/Counseling Track) and Sociology are required to complete 60 hours of supervised field experience at an approved agency to gain applied training and skills in their field.
