The Dean reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Dean provides academic, intellectual and administrative leadership to the Division. Departments within the Division of Liberal Arts and Education include the following: Education, Human Performance and Wellness, English, International Studies, Philosophy and Religion, Visual and Performing Arts, and Journalism and Mass Communication. Each major provides a student-centered atmosphere with a focus on critical thinking and global learning. Together with personal attention from faculty, and a focus on enhancing critical thinking skills and intra and intercultural understanding in students, the College provides opportunity for intellectual enrichment beyond the traditional undergraduate experience. The Dean is responsible for the enhancement and advancement Division and College Mission by providing leadership to: continually enhance the quality of teaching and advising; enrich community service and outreach activities; communicate and fund raise; coordinate expansion of new degrees/programs and/or research initiatives.
Earned doctorate in one of the disciplines of the division; three years of successful administrative experience at least at the departmental level, related to organizations and/or educational programs in college settings, including personnel and financial management; commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service; excellent communication skills, commitment to student achievement and faculty development; a record of intellectual contributions to the discipline; evidence of effective community involvement and leadership.
