Thanksgiving food drive
The Office of Student Activities is sponsoring a Thanksgiving food drive. Each department is asked to donate items for a basket. Drop-off filled baskets in Goold Hall by Friday, Nov. 20. Baskets will be delivered to families Monday, Nov. 23. Contact Ann Brown at 516-4661 for more information. 

Kenyan business woman to present lecture on economic development
Akinyi June Arunga, founder of Open Quest Media, will speak on economic development at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in Seby Jones Auditorium. Arunga, who was born in Kenya, is a graduate of the University of Buckingham’s law school. An advocate of freer markets and international trade, Arunga was named one of the "100 Most Creative People in Business" by Fast Company magazine.

Arunga’s visit is supported by a grant from the Arthur Rupe Foundation to the John W. Pope Center for Higher Education Policy.

Gateway to host open house and workshop
The Gateway Adult Learners Program will host the following information sessions:

Toys for Tots
The Gamma Rho Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is participating in the Toys for Tots program, which was implemented to give toys to children during the Christmas season for families in need of assistance. If there is any family that you are aware of, or if you work for Saint Augustine’s College and you would like to submit your child/children’s information to be a part of this project, e-mail Shannon Clarke at Shannon_sheri@yahoo.com.

Include in your e-mail the guardian’s name, address, phone number, and the child’s name, age and gender. Every family may submit up to six children. All children submitted must be under the age of 13 years old. Names must be submitted by Thursday, Nov. 12.

Global Learning: A Chinese Connection premiere
The Saint Augustine’s College Office of Academic Affairs will host the premiere of the documentary “Global Learning: A Chinese Connection” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in Seby Jones Auditorium. This documentary chronicles the 2009 China study abroad collaboration between Saint Augustine’s College, North Carolina State University and Nanjing Normal University. Save Lids to Save Lives campaign
The students and staff of Baker Hall are collecting clean pink Yoplait yogurt lids from now until Thursday, Dec. 3. The effort is part of Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives campaign. For every lid collected, the company will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization designed to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. If you have lids and would like to have them picked up, call 919-516-4328. 

Passport fair
Do you think you might want to travel abroad, study abroad or simply be prepared, just in case?  If your passport is not up to date or you never have been issued one, then the time is now. Beginning Thursday, Nov.5, through Friday, Nov. 13, the college will help you get ready to apply for your passport. In conjunction with International Week, we will attend a Passport Fair at N.C. Join the Falcons in Charlotte
The Saint Augustine’s College Falcons will face the Bluefield College Rams at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte. Tickets for the game are $30. Stay to see the Charlotte Bobcats play the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7 p.m. One $30 ticket gets you into both games. Tickets will be available in the Saint Augustine’s College cashier’s office in the Hunter Building. Tickets are also available online at http://www.st-aug.edu/falconsincharlotte.htm. Falcon cheerleaders make All-CIAA team
Lady Falcon cheerleaders Casey Johnson and Brittany Bynum were selected to the 2009 All-CIAA Cheerleading Team. They, along with the other all-conference cheerleaders, were recognized before the CIAA Championship football game in Durham, N.C., on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Lady Falcons reach CIAA volleyball semifinals
The Saint Augustine's College volleyball team finished their season Saturday, Nov. 7, at the 2009 CIAA volleyball tournament semifinals at the Boo Williams SportsPlex in Hampton, Va. The team lost to Fayetteville State University by a 3-0 score.

The Lady Falcons, who finished third in the Western Division during the regular season, ended their season at 20-16. They completed a 20-win season for the first time since 2003 when the Lady Falcons won 25 matches.
