Early voting
You don’t have to wait until Election Day to support your candidates of choice. You can cast your vote early, Oct. 16-Nov. 1, at one of 15 locations throughout Wake County. With early voting, qualified residents can register and vote on the same day. Log on to http://www.wakegov.com/elections/onestop/default.htm for more information and a list of early voting locations.
Online giving available
Alumni and friends desiring to give gifts to the College can now use a secure web site to conveniently make gifts. Simply log on to the Saint Augustine's College web site at www.st-aug.edu and click on “Give Today”.
You may also sign up for e-mail updates on College news and events. Log on to
www.st-aug.edu, click "Give Today," and follow the prompts to begin receiving e-mail updates.
Auditions for one-act plays
The Saint Augustine’s College Theater Directing Class will hold auditions for eight student-directed one-act plays at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Fine Arts Building. No experience is necessary. For more information, contact George Jack at 516-4157.
“Does God Exist?”
God’s Chosen Generation presents the play “Does God Exist?” at 7 p.m. nightly Oct. 16-19 at the Seby Jones Auditorium. Admission is free. God’s Chosen Generation is a theater group founded in 2002 at Saint Augustine’s College. The troupe features college students from St. Augustine’s College, North Carolina State University and The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Fish dinners
The Raleigh Retired Alumni of Saint Augustine’s College will sell fish dinners from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, 815 Darby St., Raleigh. Dinners are $7 each. For more information, contact Gloria Merritt at 919-833-9569.
Battle of the classes
The junior class will be hosting a battle of the classes entitled, “St. Aug’s Best Class.” The event is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. The price of admission is $3 at the door. For more information, contact Roman Caple, junior class president, at romancaple@gmail.com.
Fall Career Fair
The Belk Career Center will sponsor a career fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the MLK Student Union. Students should come professionally dressed and bring several copies of their resume. For more information or for help developing a resume, visit Goold Hall, Suite 001.
CTL workshops
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Saint Augustine’s College will present the following workshops:
- Oct. 17, 2-3 p.m. An Introduction to Grant Development: This workshop serves as an introduction to the process of developing a grant proposal for federal and state agencies. It will cover the entire spectrum – planning to submission. An overview of each section of a grant application will be presented, along with important writing tips. No previous proposal writing experience is required.
- Nov. 21, 2-3 p.m. Proposal Budgeting Basics: This workshop is designed to provide the basics of developing a project budget and is geared toward those who have general or no knowledge of project budget development.

Be ready for international travel!
Help in obtaining U.S. passports, either in book or card format for U.S. citizens or non-citizen nationals, is available through the Saint Augustine’s College Business and Finance Department.
Saint Augustine’s College will take the required photo free of charge and also arrange transportation to an authorized issuing agency. Fees may be charged to your student account or you may use payroll deduction. The College will assist in completing the application.

Falcons lose to Johnson C. Smith 19-13
The Falcon football team lost a close game to the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls Saturday. The Golden Bulls nabbed a 19-13 win over Saint Augustine's College Saturday (Oct. 11) at Irwin Belk Complex in Charlotte. The Falcons (2-5 overall, 1-3 CIAA) led the game until the Golden Bulls’ fourth-quarter surge, during which they scored 16 points.
CIAA honors Smith, Mortimer for second straight week
For the second consecutive time, freshman setter Roxanne Smith (St. Catherine, Jamaica) of Saint Augustine’s College was named CIAA volleyball Rookie of the Week, and Head Coach Covance Mortimer was chosen as CIAA volleyball Coach of the Week.
Smith collected 39 assists in two matches last week including 22 assists against Johnson C. Smith University on Oct. 1. Mortimer led the Lady Falcons to a 2-0 record last week, including 3-0 victories over Johnson C. Smith University and Saint Paul’s College.
