The Department of International Studies has been awarded The Tournées Festival Grant to help bring contemporary French cinema to colleges and universities. The department will host a French film festival February 4 through March 4. The event is free and open to the public. All showings will be at Seby Jones Auditorium at 5:30 p.m.

Barbry named campus police chief
Capt. Jerry Barbry has been named chief of the

Applications are being accepted for pastoral-leadership grants from the Louisville Institute, with support from the Lilly Endowment, for research projects that reflect on the conditions of contemporary Christian ministry and pastoral leadership. Grants of up to $40,000 each will be awarded for up to a one-year period of research and writing. Applicants must be academics and pastors who have earned a Ph.D. or terminal degree in their chosen vocations. Grant Foundation for research on social environments that affect the daily lives of youth ages 8 to 25, how these settings can be improved, and the use of research evidence in setting public policy that affects young people. Grants average between $100,000 to $600,000 over two to three years. Financial Literacy
The FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) Investor Education Foundation invites nonprofit groups and researchers to apply for funding for projects that support its mission of providing Americans with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary for financial success. Of particular interest to the foundation in 2009 are projects that focus on using behavioral finance to improve saving and investing, meeting the financial and investor education needs of underserved audiences, opening new marketing and distribution channels for financial and investor education, and helping Americans manage their finances in retirement. The foundation has set no minimum or maximum on the number of grants to be funded or for the amounts of the individual grant awards. CIAA honors Bryant for fifth straight week
For the fifth consecutive time, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) named freshman phenom Keyona Bryant (
The award is the seventh overall this season for Bryant, a 6-foot center who ranks second in scoring (17.9 points per game) and field goal percentage (53.2 percent), and sixth in rebounding (7.1 rebounds per game) in the CIAA. She has won the weekly rookie award more than any other CIAA player this season.
