Take a Kid to the Game Day
Saint Augustine’s College will host Take a Kid to the Game Day on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Falcon football team will face the University of Charleston. Kids’ activities begin at 12 p.m., and the game begins at 1:30 p.m.

General admission is $15, $10 for faculty and staff. All youth 15 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult. Groups should call 516-4239.

Faculty volunteers needed for Honda All-Star Challenge
Every year, American Honda sends 64 teams from America’s HBCUs to compete in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge tournament in Orlando, Fla. This academic competition pits the brightest HBCU students against each other in a fast-paced game of wits for up to $50,000 in grant monies for the school.

In order for the Saint Augustine’s College team to qualify, at least 10 teams of four students each are needed to compete in the campus tournament. Additionally, a number of faculty and staff are needed to volunteer as game officials for the tournament itself. Volunteer training will take only one evening.

IAD staff member receives scholarships for professional development

President to host reception honoring retired golf coach
Saint Augustine's CollegePresident Dianne Boardley Suber invites members of the Saint Augustine’s College community, alumni and friends to a reception honoring Lawrence “Peaches” Coleman, who recently retired from the College after 37 years, most of which he spent as the golf coach. The reception will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, in the Martin Luther King Jr. Ballroom. Call 516-4203 by Wednesday, Sept. 2, to RSVP.

 

Football season tickets available
Tickets for the 2009 football season are available. The team has six home games, all of which will be played at Broughton High School.
