Parking decals available

In our efforts to continue to maintain a safe and secure environment, the Campus Police Department is asking all students, faculty and staff who wish to park on campus to purchase a decal. Parking decals for the 2009-2010 school year are available in the cashier’s office. Prices remain unchanged from last year. Decals are $30 per semester for students. Annual decals for faculty and staff are $60 for general parking and $80 or $100 for reserved parking. Vehicle registration forms are available in the police department. Please visit the Campus Police office in Lynch Hall to complete the form before going to the Cashier. Campus police officials will need to see a valid driver’s license and vehicle registration before you can buy a decal. Campus police officers will soon begin enforcing parking rules and issuing citations to those without decals.

Two Falcons earn CIAA football player of the week honors

Tight end Jone’ Harris (Jr./Fairfield, Calif.) and quarterback Joaquin Green (Redshirt Fr./Pittsboro, N.C.) of Saint Augustine’s College captured CIAA football player of the week awards Monday, Sept. 7.

Harris was named CIAA receiver of the week after catching seven passes for 93 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-41 three overtime loss to the University of Charleston (W.Va.) on Sept. 5. His one-yard touchdown catch with 14 seconds left sent the game into overtime.

Harris also grabbed an eight-yard reception for a score in the second overtime. The receptions, yards and touchdowns were career highs for Harris in one game.

Green was selected CIAA rookie of the week after tossing six touchdown passes against the University of Charleston (W.Va.) in only his second collegiate start. The touchdown passes tied an NCAA Division II national record for most touchdown passes in one game by a freshman.

It also is the most touchdown passes by a Saint Augustine’s College player in one game since the program was re-started in 2002, breaking Darrell Nesbitt’s record of five touchdown passes against Winston-Salem State University in 2005.

Green completed 20 of 33 passes for 228 yards, six touchdowns and one interception against the University of Charleston (W.Va.)

Falcons fight hard in three overtime loss

Though not pleased with the loss, Head Coach Michael Costa said he was impressed with the Falcons’ late rally against the Golden Eagles.

“We are coming together,” Costa said.  “They know now they can get it done. Now it is up to them.”
