Library presents “Fighting for our Future” documentary
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Prezell R. Robinson Library will feature the documentary “Fighting for our Future” Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m.

“Fighting for our Future” explores the intimate and comprehensive journey into the lives of young women courageously battling breast cancer. Often told they are too young for the disease, women in their 20s and 30s have long been ignored by medical and research communities and are most often misdiagnosed, even though 10,000 of them are diagnosed every year in the United States and they face a more aggressive form of breast cancer.

Dialogue and discussion will follow the feature presentation.

Saint Augustine’s College Theatre announces fall 2009 productions
The Saint Augustine’s College Theatre will present the following productions during its fall season:

“Flyin’ West” Pearl Cleage’s beautiful drama about the founding of the all-black town of Nicodemus, Kan., in the American West of the 1890s. “Flyin’ West” runs Nov. 5-7 at 7 p.m. each day in Seby Jones Auditorium in the Fine Arts Building. Running time for the play is about two hours. Admission is free.

“Places Above . . . and Below!” – A haunting presentation of three one-act plays. Each evening opens with Douglass Parkhirst’s “Early Frost,” a chilling drama in which a young girl visits her elderly aunts, only to discover in their attic a dark secret meant to remain hidden for all time. Then the group presents “Tape,” a short morality play by Jose Rivera, in which a woman is forced to confront every lie she has ever told.  Finally, each performance closes with “Attic Treasure,” a lyric play by David S. Raine, in which three siblings discover treasures stored in their late father’s attic – treasures that involve each one of their own lives.  “Places Above . . . and Below!” runs Nov. 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. each day in Seby Jones Auditorium in the Fine Arts Building. Running time for this evening of theatre is about an hour. Admission is free.
