President Dianne Boardley Suber announced today that Cynthia Marshall will address Saint Augustine’s University graduates at the 2013 Commencement ceremony to be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013, on the campus quadrangle.
“We are delighted that Cynthia Marshall will join us to celebrate Commencement with Saint Augustine’s University’s 2013 graduates," said SAU President, Dianne Boardley Suber. "This will be a historic event for SAU as this will be the first graduating class since Saint Augustine’s College transitioned to university status August 1, 2012.”
Marshall has been with AT&T for more than 30 years. From January 2007 to 2012, Marshall was AT&T’s top executive in North Carolina. She was promoted to her new position as senior vice president of human resources at AT&T’s corporate headquarters in December 2012. While in N.C., Marshall was the first African-American to lead the board of directors of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce and was active in a number of North Carolina nonprofit organizations. Marshall is also a colon cancer survivor and chronicled her battle in an online journal while putting in 40-hour work weeks when she was able, as president of AT&T North Carolina.
Saint Augustine’s University's 82nd Commencement will celebrate the achievement of more than 220 graduates. The ceremony will also be broadcast via live stream to the families of Saint Augustine’s University students worldwide.
