Belk Professional Development Center's Career and Graduate School Suite

Oct. 20, 2011
alt In a time of economic uncertainty, the Belk Professional Development Center is still trying to get students employed! On Tuesday, October 18th, almost 20 organizations were on campus looking to hire or recruit students for summer employment, full-time management training programs or graduate/professional schools. These groups included long-time supporters such as Wells Fargo, SunTrust, the Federal Bureau of Prisons and NCSU School of Veterinary Medicine. New partnerships include: Kroger, Sanderson Farms and Meharry Medical University's Public Health program.

Feedback from the organizational representatives was positive and each commented on how professional the students were in their presentation and conversation. The Career Suite provides space for on-campus entities like the Army ROTC and the Testing Center to make students aware of the resources and career opportunities that exist in their own yard. Continuing the Belk Center's reputation for experiential learning, student ambassadors played a vital role in assisting with registration, directing employers and coaching new jobseekers on techniques on making an impression on a recruiter.
