Bishop Michael Curry to deliver convocation address
Sept. 7, 2011

Saint Augustine’s University will celebrate the official opening of the academic year during its 145th Fall Convocation at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, on the campus quadrangle. Bishop Michael B. Curry will deliver the convocation address.
"We are pleased to have Bishop Curry join us as we celebrate the beginning of the academic year at the University," said President Dianne Boardley Suber. "This year's convocation is particularly special because we are entering the college's 145th year. We look forward to celebrating our continued legacy of educating leaders and change agents."
Curry was elected bishop of the North Carolina Diocese in 2000. In his three parish ministries in North Carolina, Ohio, and Maryland, Curry had extensive involvement in the founding of ecumenical summer day camps for children, preaching missions, creation of networks of family day care providers, creation of educational centers, and the brokering of millions of dollars of investment in inner city neighborhoods.
