What is Computer Science?The Computer Science curriculum is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to obtain a broad knowledge of the theory, design, and applications of computers and information processing techniques with sufficient depth to undertake professional work in industry, business, government, and scientific institutions. Additionally, the program provides background preparation for graduate studies in computer science, which will prepare students for careers in higher education and for research careers in industry, scientific laboratories, and universities. The program's goals are to:
- Provide experiences in writing computer programs for varied scientific and business applications;
- Expose students to current knowledge of the theory, design, and applications of computers and information processing techniques;
- Encourage the development of logical and theoretical reasoning and problem-solving abilities in scientific applications programming; and
- Provide a foundation for graduate and professional study.
