2011 will mark Kristene Kelly's third year as the Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator at Saint Augustine's University. In addition, she recently added the title of Title IX Coordinator. Kelly joined the Falcon family after serving nearly seven years as the Sports Information Director at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU). As the Associate AD/SWA, Kelly serves on the senior management team and assists with the administration and governance of the department of athletics. In addition, to her duties in the athletic department, she also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Human Performance and Wellness.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from JCSU in 2000. Upon graduation, she served as an adjunct instructor in the health and physical education department.

While attending JCSU, she was an active part of the athletic department. In addition to serving as the sports information intern for four years, Kelly was also captain of the softball team earning All-Rookie honors in 1997 and a student trainer for the football team.

Kelly also worked at The University of Tennessee, where she served as the graduate assistant/academic counselor for the Lady Volunteers rowing and tennis teams. Her duties included determining initial and continuing eligibility of student-athletes, serving as a liaison between coaches and faculty as well as monitoring student-athlete's academic progress toward a degree.

Kelly was recently awarded the CIAA Senior Woman Administrator of the Year (2011) award and was recently selected to participate in the inaugural NCAA Division II/Division II Athletic Directors Mentoring Program. In 2005, she garnered the John Holley Sports Information Director of the Year award, becoming the second female to receive that honor. Furthermore, she is a graduate of the NCAA's Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Females (2007) and the NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement (2010).

She is a member of several professional organizations and prior to her appointment at Saint Augustine's University, she served as the contest coordinator for CoSIDA publications, vice-president of the CIAA-Sports Information Directors' Association and secretary of the Black University Sports Information Directors' Association.

Currently, she is a member of several professional organizations to include: the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA), National Association of Directors of Athletics (NACDA), and serves as the treasurer of the CIAA-Senior Woman Administrator's Association. In September 2009, Kelly began a four-year term on the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track & Field Committee. She also holds membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

The St. Croix, V.I. native received her master's degree in human performance and sport studies from The University of Tennessee and is currently a ABD (all but dissertation) at the United States Sports Academy. Her dissertation will focus on Division II female sports information director role perceptions.
