Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Gives Back Through Blood Donation Drive

April 30, 2012
The Kappa Epsilon chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. held their annual blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross, Monday, April 23.

"We wanted to raise awareness amongst minorities concerning blood donation," stated Michael Swann, campus advisor of the Kappa Epsilon chapter of Omega Psi Phi, when asked why they felt the need to bring such an event to campus.

"This event was very important for students. It showed the need for young donors to help save lives through blood donation," stated Brandon Gwaltney, president of the Kappa Epsilon chapter.

The event was considered a success by the chapter. More than 25 Falcons donated blood, 12 of which were first time blood donors.

The fraternity hopes to host another blood drive in the fall of 2012 and eventually facilitate a blood drive each semester.

This event was sponsored by the Kappa Epsilon chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Inc. and the American Red Cross.
