What is Research and Sponsored Programs?

Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) was established to assist faculty in identifying appropriate external funding opportunities consistent with their research interests or instructional needs of the University. The ORSP supports the University’s mission by stimulating research and creative activities by making researchers aware of funding opportunities, providing expertise on pre-award and post-award grant preparation and administration, and helping establish partnerships with public and private sector entities that benefit thestudents, faculty, and University.

In addition to these services, OSRP serves as the University's federal initiatives: Title III-B Strengthening Historically Black Universitys and Universities, Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound and Academic Achievers. ORSP is responsible for the overall implementation of policies and procedures of the Title III and TRIO programs as well as these program's compliance with all federal and University regulations.

ORSP provides faculty and staff professional development workshops and seminars on a variety of research and grant related areas. The pre-award specialist assists faculty with the preparation and submission of grant proposals to government agencies, corporations and private foundations. The post award specialists assists faculty and staff with grant stewardship (tracking project budgets and expenses and project reporting requirements) after the proposal has been awarded.
