Saint Augustine's College Student to Work for U.S. Department of Energy
Sophomore, Candice Brown, an Engineering and Mathematics major at Saint Augustine's University will participate in an internship with the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. this summer. Brown will serve as a program aide in the Office of Energy Information Administration.
The U.S. Department of Energy's internship program focuses on providing students the opportunity to earn academic credit while gaining hands on experience in the science, technology, math and engineering fields.
Additionally, Brown has been selected to take part in the "Gateway to Science and Mathematics" Research program at Stanford University in Stanford, Ca. The research program is geared towards encouraging more minorities to pursue careers in mathematics and sciences.
"Saint Augustine's University students are some of the most competitive students in the nation," stated Dr. Dianne Boardley Suber, president of Saint Augustine's University. "Our students are consistently excelling in all avenues. We are quite proud of Candice."
