Fitzgerald, King Named to All-CIAA Team for Second Straight Year
Raleigh, NC. -
February 21, 2007

Senior guard Antonio Fitzgerald (Danville, VA) and senior guard-forward Nicholas King (Philadelphia, PA) of Saint Augustine’s College, were selected to the 2007 All-CIAA men’s basketball squad for the second straight year. The 12-man team was announced Tuesday, February 20, 2007.

Both Fitzgerald and King have led the Falcons to a 16-8 overall record entering Tuesday’s contest at home against Livingstone College. Behind the Falcons’ duo, Saint Augustine’s has posted a two-year record of 35-15 and finished in a first-place tie with Johnson C. Smith in the CIAA’s Western Division in 2005-06.

Fitzgerald, a dynamic 6-1 guard, is the CIAA’s second-leading scorer and ranked in the top 20 nationally with a 22.2 scoring average. He also ranks among the top five CIAA leaders in assists (5.0) and steals (1.79 spg)

Fitzgerald has been named CIAA men’s basketball player of the week three times this season and has scored over 1,000 career points despite joining the team last season. Last season, Fitzgerald led the CIAA in scoring with a 22.2 scoring average. He was named to the All-CIAA and All-South Atlantic Regional teams in 2005-06.

King, a 6-7 sharpshooter, is the CIAA’s sixth leading scorer with an 18.1 scoring average, and he leads the Falcons with a 6.7 rebounding average. King is closing in on 1,000 points despite playing his second season with the Falcons.

Last season, King was the CIAA’s second leading scorer with a 20.1 scoring average and was named to the 2005-06 All-CIAA and All-South Atlantic Regional teams. Both he and Fitzgerald were 2007 Preseason All-CIAA picks.
