Basketball standouts Antonio Fitzgerald and Nicholas King of Saint Augustine’s College were named to the 2005-06 Daktronics South Atlantic Men’s All-Region Team Wednesday. The region’s sports information directors voted on the 10-man squad. Both players were voted to the second unit after leading the Falcons to a 19-7 overall record. Fitzgerald, an All-CIAA selection, led the CIAA in scoring at 22.2 points a game. He is ranked in the top ten in eight league statistical categories including assists (4.95 per game), free throw percentage (81.5 percent), steals (1.76 spg), three-point field goal percentage (39.5 percent), three-point field goals made (2.76 avg/g), assist-turnover ratio (1.44 ratio) and minutes played (37.62 mpg).
King, also an All-CIAA pick, was the league’s No. 2 scorer at 20.1 points a game. He led the CIAA in three-point field goals made (3.2 per game) and is listed in the top ten in six CIAA categories including rebounding (7.5 rpg), three-point field goal percentage (44.4 percent), defensive rebounds (5.32 rpg), minutes played (32.88 mpg) and blocked shots (1.24 bpg).
