CIAA leader Elizabeth City State led the entire way, capturing a 103-84 victory over Saint Augustine’s College in an entertaining basketball contest, which featured a combined 23 3-pointers and four technical fouls. The Lady Falcons knocked down a season-high 14 threes but Lady Vikings’ standout Celeste Trahan was too much to handle. Trahan, the CIAA’s leading scorer and rebounder, paced the Lady Vikings with 29 points and 15 rebounds on 12 of 18 shooting at Emery Gymnasium on Thursday, February 15, 2007.
She scored 20 second-half points on layups, short jumpers and putbacks as the Lady Vikings (18-6, 15-2 CIAA) led by as much as 25 points. But the Lady Falcons (6-19, 4-14 CIAA) played passionate to the end as senior forward Renata Spinks (Jonesboro, LA) scored 25 of her season-high 27 points on jumpers and inside moves in the second half. Overall, Spinks grabbed eight rebounds and was 11 of 15 overall including three of five behind the arc in her best game of the season.
Senior guard Terrica Morris (Morrilton, AR) had the hot hand behind the arc, however, as she made six of seven 3-pointers for a career-high 25 points including 20 in the first half. Morris made five of five 3-pointers in the first half. But the Lady Falcons, who shot 14 of 31 threes for 45.2 percent, couldn’t keep pace with Lady Vikings, who shot 54.4 percent from the floor for the game including nine of 17 threes.

Hudgins scored 15 first-half points as the Lady Vikings opened a 46-37 halftime lead. The Lady Vikings went on to score a season-high for a Lady Falcons’ opponent. They are the first team to score 100 or more points against the Lady Falcons this season. The Lady Falcons scored a season-high in points, as well, surpassing the 77 points they scored against Fayetteville State on February 10, 2007.
Senior guard Valicia Brown (Riverdale, MD) is only two points away from reaching 1,500 points in her four-year career after scoring eight points.
