The Saint Augustine’s College men captured its second victory in three meets this season at the N.C. Collegiate Cross Country Championships at Hagan-Stone Park on Saturday, September 23, 2006. The Falcons placed first on the 8K course among College Division men’s teams, scoring 33 points to finish ahead of Queens (50 points), Guilford (82 points), Shaw (122), Methodist (123), Greensboro College (137) and Mount Olive (144).
The Falcons won behind the running of four Falcons, who finished among the top five runners individually in the race. Issreal Jaimes finished second to lead the Falcons (26:36.7) and Ken Samoei was third (26:55.2). Omar Wiggan placed fourth (27:11.9) and Edgar Bermudez placed fifth (27:30.8).
In the women’s race, Saint Augustine’s College placed third (77 points) on the 5K course behind winner Queens (40) and Barton College (66). Three Falcons placed among the top 15 runners including Erica Young who led the Falcons with a 9th-place finish (21:53.3). Deborah Scott placed 11th in 22:14.1 and Sharona Brown was 13th in 22:19.3.
The Falcons are off this weekend but return to action Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the Hagan-Stone Cross Country Classic in Greensboro, North Carolina.
