RALEIGH, NC – After an injury-riddled 2-8 season in 2007, Head Coach Michael Costa wants a leaner, meaner Saint Augustine’s College football team in 2008. As a result, the Blue-White Spring Game on Saturday (April 12) at the campus baseball field resembled a regular season October contest. The hitting was fierce and the intensity was high. Even the quarterbacks, normally off limits in scrimmages, were fair game. |

Falcons Lose To Saint Paul’s On Homecoming Day
RALEIGH, NC – Andrew Barlow scored on a short run in the fourth quarter to give Saint Paul’s College a 14-9 victory over host Saint Augustine’s College on Saturday, Oct. 20 in a CIAA football contest.
Barlow’s three-yard run midway in the quarter gave the Tigers (3-5, 2-3 CIAA) the lead for good after trailing 9-7 since the second quarter. After the touchdown, the Falcons (1-7, 1-4 CIAA) punted, fumbled and were sacked on their last three possessions. |

Two Falcons Win CIAA Football Weekly Honors
HAMPTON, VA - Two Saint Augustine’s College football players were honored by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) for their stellar play on the gridiron this past weekend.
Defensive tackle Marcus Kennedy (Georgetown, SC) was named defensive lineman of the week, and wide receiver Tim Lovick (Garner, NC) was selected rookie of the week. Kennedy, a 6-3, 275-pound junior, led the Falcons with 10 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 1 fumble recovery in a 22-9 loss to Mars Hill College. Lovick, a 6-2, 175-pound freshman, caught five passes for 81 yards including a 47-yard pass on a trick play. |

Saint Augustine’s College, coming off a 4-6 2006 campaign including 4-3 in the CIAA, has an exciting football schedule for 2007. The Falcons will visit NCAA Division II powerhouse Carson Newman College and 2006 CIAA Champions North Carolina Central University, which begin their transition to Division I this season. In addition, the Falcons will play cross-town rival, Shaw University in the final regular season game. |
