Three members of the Saint Augustine’s College football team, led by first-team selection Alex Hall, were named to the 2006 All-CIAA football squad on Monday, November 6, 2006.
Hall (Glenarden, MD) is the only Falcons’ player on the first team. The 6-5, 250-pound junior defensive end amassed 13 sacks, which is the most in the CIAA and third nationally. He also ranked second in the CIAA and eighth nationally with 19 tackles for loss. The sacks and tackles for loss are a season-high by a Falcons’ player since the school reinstated football in 2002.
Kevin Jones (South Hill, VA) and Curtonio Marshall (Belle Glade, FL) of the Falcons were selected to the All-CIAA second team. Jones, a 6-3, 225-pound senior middle linebacker, ended the regular season with the most tackles (120) in the CIAA and the nation. His 58 solo tackles are the most in the CIAA and tied for third best in the nation. Jones also ranks fourth in the CIAA with 16.5 tackles for loss. Marshall, a 5-11, 200-pound senior cornerback, is fourth in the CIAA in passes defended with 13 for a 1.30 average per game.
The trio led the Falcons (4-6 overall) to a 4-3 CIAA record which tied Johnson C. Smith for second in the Western Division.
The All-CIAA team will be honored at the CIAA Football Championship Banquet on Thursday, November 9, 2006 in Durham, NC. |
