Running back Arnold Mullins (Philadelphia, PA) rushed for three touchdowns and wide receiver Richard Boone (Petersburg, VA) caught two scoring passes during Saint Augustine’s College’s football intrasquad scrimmage at Emery Practice Field on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Mullins, a redshirt freshman, scored one touchdown after he changed direction near the left sideline and eluded several defenders. Tight end Jabre Green (Pittsboro, NC) also grabbed a touchdown pass for the offense, which earned high praise from Head Coach Michael Costa after the defense dominated last week’s scrimmage.
“The defense held its own, but the offense executed well (Saturday),” Costa said. “We got good blocking up front, and the quarterbacks, receivers, and running backs played well. Mullins stepped up real well.”
The Falcons scrimmaged nearly two hours on a sweltering day, which should prepare them for the season opener against Mars Hill College on Sept. 1. Game time is 1:30 p.m. at Broughton High School’s stadium.
“Overall, we looked good despite the heat,” Costa said. “If it is hot like this next week, we know we can play in it.” |
