Men’s national champion Saint Augustine’s College placed 18 athletes on the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field All-America Team, released by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this week.
The Falcons’ list include men’s individual champions Philippe DeRosier (200 meters), Jamaal Torrance (400 meters) and the winning 4x400 relay team consisting of Lurias Eugene, Tim Riley, Travon Lee and Torrance. DeRosier also made the team in the 60-meter dash, and Lee earned All-America honors in the 400 meters.
Saint Augustine’s women individual champions Johnsie Liles (400 meters), Marquita Davis (60-meter hurdles), and the winning 4x400 relay team including Jessica Render, Erica Young, Dana Robinson and Liles are also on the squad. Liles is also a 200-meter All-American, Young made the team in the 400 meters and Render is a 200-meter and 60-meter All-American.
Other Falcons named to the All-America team include Dennis Boone (60 meters/long jump), Unyime Akpan (60-meter hurdles), Chris Stevens (60-meter hurdles), Jermaine Baker (60-meter hurdles), Joe Kindred (high jump), Fabian Hutchinson (long jump), Dwayne Greenidge (long jump), and Kimberly Moore (triple jump).
Saint Augustine’s scored 66.5 points to win its ninth NCAA men’s indoor title and snapping Abilene Christian’s four-year run in the process. Abilene Christian finished second with 55 points.
The Saint Augustine’s women finished third with just six athletes behind champion Lincoln and runner-up Abilene Christian. Lincoln scored 87 points to defeat Abilene Christian (50.33) and Saint Augustine’s (49).
The All-America team is made up of the top eight finishers in each event this month at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, held at Boston, Mass.
