Fresh off a dominant CIAA Championship performance last weekend, Kwonya Ferguson of Saint Augustine's College won three field events for the second straight week at the Virginia Tech Challenge Indoor Track and Field Meet at Rector Fieldhouse held Friday, February 16, 2007, and Saturday, February 17, 2007.
Ferguson won the women's long jump, triple jump and high jump at the two-day event. She won the triple jump (43-7.75) and high jump (5-11.25) on Saturday, and the long jump (20-11.25) on Friday. Last Sunday, Ferguson won the same three events in leading the Lady Falcons to the CIAA Indoor Championship in Newport News, Va., winning women's field MVP honors.
Overall, Saint Augustine's captured eight events at Virginia Tech. The other winners were Joseph Kindred in the high jump (6-10.75), Barbara Pierre in the 55 dash (6.89), Johnsie Liles in the women's 400 dash (53.84), Randy Curry in the men's 400 dash (47.42) and the men's 4x400 relay team (3:09.30).
Pierre set a Rector Fieldhouse record with her time in the women's 55 dash.
