The Saint Augustine’s College men dominated the sprints while Johnsie Liles and Kwonya Ferguson led the Falcons’ women at the Penn State Open Indoor Track and Field Meet at Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track on Saturday, January 20, 2007.

The meet featured Division II track power Saint Augustine’s College and Division I schools Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Syracuse, Rutgers, West Virginia and Robert Morris.

The Falcons excelled in sprints as Dennis Boone won the 60 dash (6.73 seconds), Philippe DeRosier won the 200 dash (21.21) and Jamaal Torrance won the 400 dash (46.95). In other men’s events, Joe Kindred, the 2006 national junior high jump champion, won the high jump (7-0.25) and the Falcons’ quartet of Randy Curry, Andre Thompson, Laurias Eugene and Torrance won the 4x400 relay (3:11.30). Jamal Cumberbatch captured the triple jump (48-11.50).

In the women’s events, Liles won the 400 dash (54.86) and helped the Falcons win the 4x400 relay (3:43.28) along with Aisha George, Treva Hutchinson and Erica Young.

Ferguson won two events including the high jump (5-7) and the long jump (19-8.75).

The Falcons will compete again in the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, TN, on January 26 and 27.
