The Saint Augustine’s College men more than held their own March 23-25 at the Walt Disney World Invitational outdoor track and field meet which included Division I teams.

Saint Augustine’s finished second with 115.50 points behind Tennessee, which claimed the men’s division with 147.50 points. The Division II Falcons finished ahead of Division I programs South Carolina (99 points), Georgia Tech (89), Jackson State (71), Alabama (60) and Ohio State (39) to name a few.

In the women’s division, the Falcons performed well with a ninth-place finish (39 points). South Carolina won the women’s division with 154 points and Georgia Tech was runner-up with 135.50 points. Ohio State finished third with 92.83 points.

The Falcons put together an all-around effort to finish high. Jamaal Torrance led the way with a victory in the 400-meter dash in 46.40. Philippe DeRosier was second in the 100-meter dash, and Travon Lee was second in the 200-meter dash. Joe Kindred placed third in the high jump, and fourth in the triple jump.

Lurias Eugene, Tim Riley and Dwayne Greenidge were third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles. Unyime Akpan was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, and Fabian Hutchinson was fourth in the long jump. The Falcons were second in the 4x100 relays, 4x400 relays, and 4x110 shuttle hurdles, and third in the 1600 sprint medley.

In the women’s division, Dana Robinson of Saint Augustine’s won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.61. Johnsie Liles was third and Erica Young placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, and Marquita Davis was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles. Kim Moore was fifth in the triple jump, and the Falcons placed second in the 4x400-meter relay.

The Falcons’ next outdoor meet is April 1 (Saturday) at the Charlotte Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.
