The awards are the latest in what has been a tremendous season for Williams and the Saint Augustine’s College track and field team. Williams was selected the 2007 NCAA Division II National and Southeast Regional Men’s Indoor Coach of the year by U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. He also was named 2007 CIAA coach of the year in men’s cross country after leading the Falcons to the men’s title in the Fall.
Saint Augustine’s College swept the 2007 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s National Indoor Championships in addition to winning the 2007 CIAA Indoor and Outdoor Men’s and Women’s Titles.
Williams directed the Falcons to their 10th straight CIAA men’s outdoor track and field championship at Petersburg, Va., in April. The Falcons outscored North Carolina Central 244 to 221 in the closest men’s finish in 11 years.
The Lady Falcons won the women’s outdoor championship with 216 points which was 44 points more than second-place finisher North Carolina Central. The outdoor title was the 10th in 11 seasons for the Lady Falcons. Saint Augustine’s College swept both men’s and women’s CIAA outdoor titles for the ninth time in 10 seasons.
Saint Augustine’s College has won 29 national championships and over 100 CIAA championships in indoor and outdoor track and field under Williams, who coached the 2004 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team.
