Saint Augustine’s Antoinette Bailey is a freshman but she showed no jitters in a softball doubleheader at Mount Olive Tuesday.
Bailey smacked two home runs, accounting for both Falcons’ scores, in identical 11-1 losses. In the first game, she drilled a pitch way over the centerfield fence in the top of the fourth inning to stop a no-hit bid. The Detroit, Mich., native also singled in the third inning as she went 2-for-2 at the plate.
In the second game, Bailey homered to left field with two outs to break up a no-hitter in the fourth inning. Overall, Bailey had all three of the Falcons’ hits and was 3-for-4 combined in both games.
The Falcons (0-2 overall) host their first home doubleheader Friday (Feb. 24) against Bluefield State at nearby Oakwood Park. The first game starts at 1 p.m.
