Campbell Named To All-CIAA Rookie Volleyball Team
Nicolette Campbell of Saint Augustine’s College was selected to the 2008 All-CIAA Rookie Volleyball Team this week.
Campbell, a 5-5 freshman libero from Nassau, Bahamas, ranks fourth in digs (2.82 per game) and seventh in service aces (0.52 per game) in the CIAA.
Campbell helped the Lady Falcons finish second in the CIAA Western Division in the regular season. The Lady Falcons will compete in the CIAA Volleyball Championships which will be held in Hampton, Va., on Nov. 7-9.
The Lady Falcons enter the CIAA Championships with a 13-14 overall record including an 8-5 CIAA record and a 5-3 Western Division mark. The 8-5 CIAA record tied for third-best in the conference.

Lady Falcons End Volleyball Season In CIAA Semifinals
HAMPTON, Va. – Saint Augustine’s College defeated Virginia State and Johnson C. Smith in pool play of the 2008 CIAA Volleyball Championships, but lost to Fayetteville State University in the semifinals over the weekend (Nov. 7-9) at Boo Williams Sportsplex.
On Sunday, Nicolette Campbell (Nassau, Bahamas) was selected to the CIAA All-Tournament Team.
The Lady Falcons finished the season at 15-16 overall which is a six-win improvement from last season. They return every player next season from a team which finished second in the Western Division and tied for the third-best CIAA record (8-5) during the regular season
. On Friday, the Lady Falcons defeated Virginia State 3-2 (25-21, 25-20, 12-25, 17-25, 15-9) and Johnson C. Smith 3-1 (25-23, 26-24, 22-25, 25-20) before losing to Elizabeth City State 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-17) in pool play.
Outside hitters Shakira Carter (St. Michael, Barbados) and Brittany Watts (Severn, MD) led the Lady Falcons with 35 and 33 kills, respectively, in the three matches. Setter Roxanne Smith (St. Catherine, Jamaica) tallied 103 assists and Campbell had 34 digs for the Lady Falcons.
On Saturday, Watts led the Lady Falcons with 10 kills and seven digs, but Fayetteville State eliminated the Lady Falcons 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-18) in the second semifinal match Saturday. Smith added 17 assists and six digs, and Campbell had seven digs for the Lady Falcons.
