The Saint Augustine’s College men’s and women’s tennis teams entered the win column for the first time during the regular season’s last weekend.
The Falcons topped Saint Paul’s 7-0 and 5-2 Saturday (April 15) in a CIAA men’s tennis doubleheader. In women’s tennis, Saint Augustine’s was victorious 5-2.
In the 7-0 men’s victory, Falcons’ winners were Michael Roberson at No. 1 singles, Lawrence Baker at No. 2 singles, Elliot Brock at No. 3 singles, Kevin Wilson at No. 4 singles and Terry Hill at No. 5 singles. In doubles competition, Baker and Roberson teamed up to win No. 1 doubles, and Brock and Wilson were winners in No. 2 doubles.
In the 5-2 win, Roberson won No. 1 singles and Baker won No. 2 singles. Wilson won his No. 4 singles match and Hill was a No. 5 singles winner. Baker and Roberson captured No. 1 doubles.
In the women’s 5-2 win, Aurea Griffith, Aria Loveland and Ebony Gay led the way with victories in both singles and doubles. Griffith won No. 1 singles and Loveland claimed No. 2 singles after the duo gained a No. 1 doubles win. Gay and Nichole Braxton emerged with a win in No. 2 doubles.
The regular season ended for the Falcons’ women while the men advanced to the CIAA Tennis Championships April 19-21 in Petersburg, Va.
