Outside hitter Aurea Griffith (St. Thomas, Barbados) tallied 25 kills and outside hitter Vittorio McDuffie (Frankfort, Germany) added 23 kills as Saint Augustine’s College rallied to defeat Fayetteville State 3-2 Saturday, October 14, 2006, in a CIAA volleyball match at Emery Gym.
Middle blocker/outside hitter Samantha Joseph (St. Michael, Barbados) added ten kills for the Lady Falcons, who improved to 14-5 overall and 11-2 in the CIAA. Fayetteville State fell to 10-14 overall and 6-5 in the CIAA. The Falcons rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win 30-28, 19-30, 27-30, 30-27, 15-11. Setter Renee Clarke (St. Michael, Barbados) led the Lady Falcons with 50 assists and Joseph had a team-high 15 digs. Griffith added three service aces and eight digs, and Irenah Jenkins (Durham, NC) collected three blocks.
The Lady Falcons travel north this week to Bowie State University on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, and University of District of Columbia on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. Both matches are set to start at 6 p.m.
