Bowie State University upset Saint Augustine’s College on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, in five games (30-32, 30-17, 19-30, 30-23, 16-14) despite a game-high 21 kills from Falcons’ outside hitter Samantha Joseph (St. Michael, Barbados) in a CIAA volleyball match. The loss dropped the Lady Falcons to 14-6 overall and 11-3 in the CIAA while Bowie State upped its record to 7-14 overall and 6-7 in the CIAA.
Joseph added 20 digs in a losing effort while teammate Aurea Griffith (St. Thomas, Barbados) compiled 14 kills and led the Lady Falcons with 27 assists and 30 digs. Vittorio McDuffie (Frankfort, Germany) added 14 kills and 16 digs, and Renee Clarke (St. Michael, Barbados) had 14 assists. Tamira Rogers led Bowie State with 15 kills and 11 digs, and Tiffany Toney had 14 kills and 15 digs. Alycia Chase had 11 kills and 34 digs, and Jasmine McNair collected 44 assists.
The Lady Falcons continue their two-day trip in the Maryland-Washington, D.C. area with a non-conference match at University of District of Columbia on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. The match starts at 6 p.m.
