The Saint Augustine’s College volleyball team christened the refurbished floor inside Emery Gym by winning two straight matches over the weekend. The Lady Falcons defeated University of D.C. 3-1 (30-28, 30-21, 17-30, 30-26) on Saturday, September 30, 2006, and Johnson C. Smith 3-0 (30-19, 30-23, 30-24) on Sunday, October 1, 2006. The wins improved the Lady Falcons’ record to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in the CIAA.
Aurea Griffith (St. Thomas, Barbados) totaled 23 kills, 11 assists and 21 digs and Samantha Joseph (St. Michael, Barbados) added 25 kills, 13 digs and 11 blocks in two games. Vittorio McDuffie (Frankfort, Germany) contributed 23 kills and Renee Clarke (St. Michael, Barbados) tallied 70 assists including 48 assists against the University of D.C.
The Lady Falcons visit Johnson C. Smith in a rematch on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, and Livingstone on Thursday, October 5, 2006, before hosting defending CIAA champion North Carolina Central University on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at Emery Gym in a Western Division showdown. The Eagles are atop the division at 3-0 followed by the Falcons at 2-0. The NCCU match starts at 3 p.m. |
