Senior outside hitter Aurea Griffith of Saint Augustine’s College was named CIAA Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season. Griffith (St. Thomas, Barbados) earned the award for leading the Lady Falcons to a 6-2 record last week September 12-18, 2006 including a 5-1 mark in the CIAA Volleyball Roundup in Durham. She totaled 111 kills, 59 digs and 14 blocks in eight volleyball matches. The Lady Falcons defeated Fayetteville State, Shaw, Bowie State, Elizabeth City State, Virginia State and Saint Paul’s while losing to Catawba and Virginia Union last week. Their record is 9-3 overall, 7-1 in the CIAA and 1-0 in the Western Division. The 7-1 mark is second-best behind North Carolina Central (7-0) in the CIAA. The Lady Falcons play their first home game in Emery Gym on September 30, 2006 when they host University of District of Columbia at 2 p.m.
