The CIAA announced its 2006 preseason volleyball team on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 and four Saint Augustine’s College players were selected for the squad. The four Falcons are outside hitter Aurea Griffith (Sr./St. Thomas, Barbados), middle hitter/blocker Samantha Joseph (Senior/St. Michaels, Barbados), setter Renee Clarke (Senior/St. Michaels, Barbados) and right side player Vittorio McDuffie (Senior/Frankfort, Germany). The Falcons placed the most players on the 12-member squad. In 2005, Griffith and Joseph made the All-CIAA Volleyball first team while Clarke was a second-team selection. The trio and McDuffie led the Falcons to a 19-6 record and the CIAA Tournament semifinals last year.

This season, the senior quartet is expected to help the Falcons contend for the CIAA crown. Griffith is the team’s returning kills leader (330), and the CIAA’s No. 2 returning kills leader. Joseph is the team’s returning blocks leader (45), and Clarke led the Falcons in digs (195). McDuffie had the second-highest number of kills (246) on the squad a year ago.
