Benardo Dargan currently serves as Special Assistant to the President and Liaison to the Board of Trustees at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC. He is also Founder and Principal of BDARGANWORKS, LLC., a comprehensive executive leadership support firm.
Most recently, Benardo was Interim Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He previously served as Assistant Dean for Graduate Student and Global Engagement at Clemson University in South Carolina and held other administrative posts in Michigan and North Carolina; and served as a public-school teacher earlier in his career.
Benardo has more than twenty years of progressive leadership experience as a student-centered educator managing essential administrative functions within student affairs, academic units and community engagement initiatives. Throughout his career he has supported mission critical efforts through advising university executive leaders on various issues and cultivating relationships across campuses and with external stakeholders. Additionally, Benardo acts as liaison to university and community boards and held various leadership positions on non-profit boards and committees. He has presented and consulted in areas of interest including but not limited to organizational renewal, international education, community engagement, mentoring, male success initiatives, diversity and inclusion, leadership development, college access and PreK-12/higher education partnerships.
A South Carolina native, Benardo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from South Carolina State University and master’s degree in student affairs administration from Michigan State University. He also attended the Management and Leadership in Education Institute at Harvard University.
