Most recently Alan Robertson was the CFO of Morehouse College with responsibility for leading the business and financial functions to ensure the College’s fiscal integrity and sustainability. In addition to developing the annual budget and long-range fiscal plan, he works closely with the Finance, Audit and Investment committees of the Board of Trustees in overseeing the annual financial audit, budget, as well as investment of the College’s endowment.
Robertson’s experience includes more than 30 years of senior and professional leadership roles in higher education (20 years), banking and the public accounting in the areas of operations, administration, strategic planning, accreditation, financial and risk management.
Prior to higher education, Robertson was a senior vice president and senior loan officer of the Independence Bank of Chicago, vice president of the First National Bank of Chicago and executive vice president and CFO of Urban Ministries, Inc. He began his professional career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co.
Robertson received a bachelor’s degree in commerce (BSC) from DePaul University; a master’s of business administration (MBA), with concentrations in finance, marketing and organizational behavior, from Northwestern University; and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
He is a member of the AICPA, the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). Certification include: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and the Millennium Leadership Institute. He has served in professional capacities with the state CPA Society and numerous charitable organizations.
