Dr. Trish Harleston will assume the role of Interim Director of Career Exploration, Mentoring and Professional Development on January 16, 2020. Dr. Harleston has worked in the Office of Professional Development and Career Services on contract as Assistant to the Director since August 2018. Since beginning her time in the department, she has been instrumental in restructuring the processes for the University work-study program, served as administrator for the College Central Network, and assisted with coordination and implementation of the 2019 Career Fair and Graduate School Expo. Dr. Harleston has facilitated several workshops for the Professional Development Workshop Series and maintains oversight for the Career Closet.

She has served for several years as a Certified Training Professional and most recently as Executive Pastor at a local church where she was responsible for operational, educational and administrative functions, including oversight for the start of a new Education Building and development of the Christian education program. In this role, she maintained oversight of education functions including course and instructor scheduling, course evaluation, and curriculum development. Dr. Harleston has also worked in Senior Management with Time Warner Entertainment as Customer Service Manager and Area Operations Manager for satellite services, and as Customer Relations Manager for the RDU Airport Authority overseeing airport surveys, training, and customer experience. As proprietor, trainer and founder of a training and leadership development firm, she did contract training for organizations throughout the region. She is also the founder of a non-profit outreach organization that offers conferences and training events in the area.

Dr. Trish Harleston, a licensed and ordained minister, holds a BS degree in Business Administration/Management, Master of Arts in Christian Counseling, and a Doctorate in Christian Ministry. She is a Certified Christian Counseling Professional and is the author of three publications. She is also an award-winning public servant recognized as Spectacular Magazine Woman of the Year for Community Service; Who’s Who in Black Raleigh and Durham as a Spiritual Leader; Woman of Distinction Award in Spirituality; and Honoree for Women in Leadership. She has also been awarded the public service award for her local Sorority. Dr. Harleston is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated where she serves as Regional Chaplain for the South Atlantic Region.
