Saint Augustine’s University is Ranked No. 7 for Campus Safety in North Carolina

The StateUniversity.com has ranked Saint Augustine’s University No. 7 in North Carolina for campus safety. Colleges and universities were ranked based on campus safety on a scale that accounts for severity of a crime as well as frequency of crime.

“We will continue to monitor our campus diligently in hopes of continuing to create a culture where our students can feel stress free in relation to crime at their home away from home,” said Chief of Saint Augustine’s University’s police department, George Boykin. “Saint Augustine’s University’s campus police department’s officers have made a commitment to protect our students as if they were our own and we will hold to that commitment, giving them the opportunity to fully concentrate on what’s important – their education.”

The campus crime statistics published on StateUniversity.com are compiled from crime reports submitted by college/university law enforcement between January 1 and December 31, 2012. The ratings are based on the following criteria: number of weapon occurrences, drugs, burglary, vehicle theft, arson, larceny, robbery, forcible and non-forcible rape, murder and non-negligent manslaughter, and aggravated assault.

“We’re very excited to announce the changes that we’ve implemented to StateUniversity.com,” said Dominik Mazur, manager of StateUniversity.com. “We’re certain that the additional information and the new categories will be of big help for those looking to do an in-depth research on the safety of the schools they desire to attend.”
