The Black Collegiate Gaming Association (BCGA) is proud to announce the soft opening of the King Korner Community Gaming Lounge at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC. This state-of-the-art gaming facility aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for students, focusing on promoting diversity and representation in the gaming industry. The Lab will open today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the regular hours to be announced later.

The King Korner Community Gaming Lounge is made possible through the generous support of the BCGA’s partners, who have donated various resources to ensure an exceptional gaming experience for the students. The sponsors and their contributions are as follows:

  • Sony PlayStation: Consoles, controllers, TVs & Projector
  • GameStop: E-giftcard

The BCGA’s mission is to empower black and women of color college students to enter the gaming industry, not only as consumers but also as creators and professionals. The King Korner Community Gaming Lounge will be a hub for students interested in gaming and esports, providing opportunities to network, learn, and grow in the industry. To celebrate the soft opening, Saint Augustine’s University IT department will be hosting a series of game tournaments.

The Spring Grand Opening will be held in January 2024. At this opening, we will have the following:

  • Panel Discussions: Industry professionals will share their insights and experiences, offering valuable advice to aspiring students.
  • Networking Opportunities: Students will have the chance to connect with representatives from the BCGA’s partner organizations, potentially opening doors for future collaborations and internships.

Saint Augustine’s University BCGA would like to thank the BCGA for their support in making the King Korner Community Gaming Lounge a reality. The university’s commitment to fostering innovation and providing cutting-edge resources for its students has been instrumental in bringing this project to life.
