Senior Jill Ricks, a psychology major from High Point, NC, won two distinguished honors at the Association of North Carolina Alphamen (ANCA) District Conference. The conference was held on the campus of University of North Carolina at Wilmington from November 7 through November 9.

Ricks was awarded the ANCA 53rd Conference Miss Black and Gold Pageant Cassandra Ward Congeniality Award and the ANCA 53rd Conference Miss Black and Gold Pageant Scholastic Winner (Highest GPA).

“In April 2014, I won the Alpha Gamma Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. scholastic pageant which qualified me for the ANCA district conference,” Ricks said. “I am very humble to win these two awards especially the Miss Black and Gold Pageant Cassandra Ward Congeniality Award. Mrs. Ward was such a phenomenal woman. I am very honored.”

Mrs. Cassandra Ward is the late, lovely wife of Saint Augustine’s University Interim President Everett Ward, Ph.D.

Ricks was selected as the recipient of the awards from a pool of students from other college campuses in North Carolina such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Pembroke State, Duke, Fayetteville State University and North Carolina A&T State University.

Congratulations!
