Gillian Macaulay, CFE, MPA

Gillian Macaulay is currently a Senior Business Execution Consultant, supporting the Consumer Lending Group at Wells Fargo Bank. Gillian has been with Wells Fargo since June 2015 when she was recruited for the Internal Audit Associate Program. This program is designed to recruit top collegiate talents from graduate and undergraduate programs from various colleges and universities nationwide. In her current role, Gillian is responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvement by conducting root cause testing of compliance and business processes to adequately mitigate risk. Present recommendations to develop, implement, and monitor strategic approaches and focus on effectiveness of support function and business performance improvement opportunities for managing risks of the business.

Prior to her current role, she supported the Enterprise Testing-Financial Crimes group and was responsible for conducting targeted reviews, control-based testing, and business process management reviews to assess design and effectiveness of firm’s BSA/AML/OFAC Sanctions controls, procedures and processes are designed appropriately and follow compliance guidelines.

Gillian spent her first 3 years with the bank in the Internal Audit Services group where she was responsible for providing independent and objective assurance to improve effectiveness of various LOBs within Wells Fargo.

Gillian currently maintains the following designation:

  • CFE- Certified Fraud Examiner (2019-present)

Originally from Freetown, Sierra Leone, Gillian graduated magna cum laude in accounting from Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC. Also, an inductee of Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society, member of National Association of Black Accountants and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Gillian further pursued her Masters degree from North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Gillian enjoys giving back to the community and volunteers with a non-profit operating in Sierra Leone- Girls Empowerment Sierra Leone. She is the author of a children’s book titled ‘The Perfect Saturday’. In addition to mentoring young girls, Gillian enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
