Several scholars in the School of Science, Mathematics and Engineering participated in the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in San Antonio, Texas from November 12 to November 15. Several Falcons presented their summer research project during the conference. They were Colleen Bramwell, Brianda Elzey, Richard Gilliam, Justin Jones, Harriet Ndlovu and Michael Thomas. Other Falcons to attend the conference included Jasmin Johnson, DeAsia L. Lewis, Michael Thomas, Derrick V. Williams, Tevin Williams and Malika Wood.

ABRCMS is one of the largest, professional conferences for underrepresented minority students and students with disabilities to pursue advanced training in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Students from more than 350 U.S. colleges and universities attended the conference. ABRCMS serves as a key stepping stone enhancing the scientific and professional development of young scientists.

The conference was sponsored by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, Division of Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity and managed by the American Society for Microbiology.
