Voters’ Education Forum was Informative

More than 100 individuals attended the voters’ education forum held in the Martin Luther King Jr. Conference Center. Moderated by Dr. Elizabeth Fournier, chair for the Department of History, Government and Public Policy, the voters’ education forum allowed SAU students, faculty, staff and members of the community to hear first-hand from candidates on various issues from education to the challenges facing historically black colleges and universities to racial profiling. Other concerns raised by a group of panelists, which consisted of SAU students and a dean, included how to improve transportation in Raleigh and Wake County for low-income families to goals to assist private institutions. The panelists included Dr. Zaphon R. Wilson, dean of the School of Social Sciences and Behavioral Sciences, Chris Acevedo, a theatre major from Brooklyn, New York, Henry Capers, a junior political science major from Raeford, NC and Jarius Page, a business administration from Raleigh, N.C.
