SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN STUDENTS
Once enrolled to Saint Augustine’s University, incoming students are immediately evaluated for scholarships. Individual scholarships may require a separate application in some situations, as mentioned. The Freshman Scholarships mentioned below are for new students who are enrolled in a degree-seeking program and pursuing their first Bachelor’s degree. For full consideration of all forms of financial help, all students are advised to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Saint Augustine’s University honors outstanding academic skill and abilities. This scholarship aims to continue the purpose of recruiting high-quality students. This scholarship pays for full tuition, room, and board. If the student satisfies the annual requirements, scholarship may be renewed for each of the additional three academic years.
Requirements:
- Must be an incoming freshman
- Must be admitted to Saint Augustine’s University
- Have a GPA of at least 3.8 on a 4.0 scale*
- A minimum of 1100 SAT score (math and verbal) or 22 ACT score
- one recent letter of recommendation demonstrating leadership ability
- A one-page typed essay about your future goals and leadership ability

ABSALOM JONES TUITION GRANT
The Absalom Jones Tuition Grant is for qualified students who are members of the Worldwide Anglican Communion or the Episcopal Church. Episcopalian is defined as a baptized Christian, confirmed, or received into the Episcopal Church. Members of the Worldwide Anglican Communion are defined as baptized, confirmed, or received, and as an active member of a parish or mission of a recognized diocese within the Worldwide Anglican Communion. This grant is worth $8,945, which represents a 50% discount off the annual tuition and fees for students of Episcopal faith. If the student satisfies the annual requirements, scholarship may be renewed for each of the additional three academic years.
Criteria
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA
- Minimum of 950 SAT score (Math and Verbal) or an 18 ACT score
- Written confirmation sent to Saint Augustine’s University from their parish rector, priest in charge, vicar, or bishop
MERITORIOUS SCHOLARSHIP
Up to $6,000 per year
Saint Augustine’s University recognizes and rewards exceptional academic ability and expertise. This scholarship attempts to keep the goal of attracting high-quality students alive. This award is funded at $6,000. If the student satisfies the annual requirements, scholarship may be renewed for each of the additional three academic years.
Requirements:
- Must be an incoming freshman
- Must be admitted to Saint Augustine’s University
- Have a GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale*
- A minimum of 1000 SAT score (math and verbal) or 20 ACT score
- One recent letter of recommendation demonstrating leadership ability
- A one-page typed essay about your future goals and leadership ability

DIVERSITY MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Diversity is the state or fact of being diverse; difference; unlikeness. This scholarship is designated for students who are not African American (i.e., Latinx, Caucasian, Native American/Indigenous Person, or Pacific Islander). If the student satisfies the annual requirements, scholarship may be renewed for each of the additional three academic years.
Requirements:
- Must be an incoming freshman
- Must be admitted to Saint Augustine’s University
- Have a GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale*
- A minimum of 850 SAT score (math and verbal) or 17 ACT score
- Proof of race (i.e., driver’s license, passport, or birth certificate)

LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
Up to $8,945 per year
Legacy Grants (Up to $8,945) help foster relationships with alumni who are relatives of academically qualified students while ingraining a sense of loyalty and commitment from the next generation. If the student satisfies the annual requirements, (30 hours earned and 2.5 GPA) the grant may be renewed for each of the additional three academic years.
Criteria
- Incoming Freshmen: 950+ SAT score (Math and Verbal) or an 18+ ACT, GPA: 3.0+
- Transfer Students: 30 hours of completed college coursework, GPA: 3.0+
- At least one parent, legal guardian or grandparent must be a graduate of Saint Augustine’s University, in good financial standing with the University and currently a financially active member of Saint Augustine’s University National Alumni Association.
MUSIC AND ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
Saint Augustine’s University recruits a myriad of talented individuals. Scholarships may be awarded to prospective Falcons showing promise in music or intercollegiate athletics. ARMY ROTC SCHOLARSHIP
Army ROTC awards scholarships to many qualified students based strictly on merit to the most outstanding students. Army ROTC Advanced Course students also receive a tax-free stipend of $420 per month. Scholarship students receive tuition, the monthly stipend and additional funding of approximately $1,200 each school year for books. Students entering the Advanced Course must agree to complete a period of military service such as Active Duty, Army Reserve or Army National Guard upon graduation. Students successfully completing the ROTC course will graduate with a diploma and a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
Criteria
- Be an incoming freshman
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Score a minimum of 1000 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores)
- Meet physical standards
- Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard)

NATIVE AMERICAN TUITION WAIVER
Only covers the tuition costs for undergraduate students
Criteria
- Enrolled members or the children of an enrolled member of an American Indian Tribal Nation or Alaska Native Village recognized by the US federal government.
STRADA SCHOLARSHIP
Requirements:
- Participate in the Honors
- Maintain an average GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must be an incoming freshmen
- Submit an essay to the President’s Office focused on personal efforts in leadership, academic success, and social change
- Participate in leadership development opportunities
- Participate in mentoring and career coaching
- Participate in work-based learning experiences
- Engages with Saint Augustine’s University Administration to build creative solutions
- If you are a recipient of the Presidential, Meritorious, or Diversity Merit Scholarships, you are NOT eligible for this scholarship.
FIDELITY SCHOLARS
The Fidelity Scholars Program combines an annual need-based last dollar scholarship with robust wrap- around services that lead to a degree or certificate. The program is designed to support students seeking their first degree in designated zip codes in Massachusetts, North Carolina, or Texas (see below) who are enrolling in Fall 2023. Recipients must be attending a not-for-profit, accredited, 4-year, 2-year college/university or certificate program in their home state.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants for the Fidelity Scholars Program must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a permanent resident of an identified zip code in the metropolitan areas of Boston, MA; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; and Raleigh/ Durham, NC (see below).
- Be of African American/Black, Latino/a, Native American or Asian/Pacific Islander heritage.
- Be a first-time degree or certificate seeking student in academic year 2023-2024 who is between the ages of 16-24 at the time of selection.
- Possess an unweighted cumulative grade point average between a 2.50-3.50 or an earned GED.
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”) form for 2- or 4-year programs. Students seeking to enroll in certificate programs must complete any related financial assistance forms where applicable.
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident.
- Be Pell Grant eligible with demonstrated, unmet financial need at the time of selection as verified by the college or university financial aid office.
LETTIE PATE WHITEHEAD
The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation Scholarship is available to qualifying Christian women who live in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia and demonstrate financial need. This award is valued at $3,000. If the student meets the yearly requirements, the scholarship can be extended for another three academic years.
Criteria
- Minimum of 2.7 GPA
- Must be a female and of a Christian faith
- Resides in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia
